Tahoe Area Homeowners Offered Loans For Bear-Proof Garbage Bins

A waste management agency in South Lake Tahoe has started offering homeowners loans to buy bear-proof garbage bins. It's an effort to reduce conflicts with the animals who wander into neighborhoods in search of food.

Proposal To Increase Garbage Bill Heads To Sacramento City Council

UPDATE: If you live in the City of Sacramento your garbage bill may go up by about a dollar a month starting in July. Last night, the Utility Rates Advisory Commission approved a proposal to increase rates each of the next three years.
