Crews Close To Containing Applegate, Dog Rock Fires

Applegate Fire Update: Containment At 80 Percent; Evacuation And Closure Orders Lifted

UPDATE: 11:30 P.M. SUNDAY- Applegate Fire holds at 459 acres, with containment at 80 percent late Sunday. All closures and evacuation orders have been lifted. Officials say full containment is expected on Monday.

Applegate Fire Update: Five Homes Destroyed, 1,000 Homes Threatened

UPDATE: 11:19 P.M. - Containment of the Applegate Fire near Auburn stood at 25 percent Thursday night, with 420 acres charred. Five homes have burned, along with several outbuildings. Cal Fires says 1,000 more homes are threatened.

Applegate Fire: Fires In Placer County Prompt Evacuations, I-80 Reopens

October 8, 2014

UPDATE: 9:35 P.M. - At least one house burned in the Applegate Fire, which has grown to 380 acres. Mandatory evacuations are in place. One late of eastbound I-80 traffic is now open. Three Red Cross evacuation centers opened.
