Refugee Documentary 'Midnight Traveler' To Screen At UC Davis

On Tuesday, UC Davis alumna Emelie Mahdavian’s film "Midnight Traveler" will be screened at UC Davis. Mahdavian is a UC Davis graduate and is the film’s writer and producer. The film’s director is also its subject, Afghan Hassan Fazili. The film documents Fazili’s forced flight, with his wife and two young daughters, from Afghanistan. 

The film will be shown as part of UC Davis’ Human Rights Film Festival. The festival began in 2017 in partnership with Human Rights Watch. The three-day festival brings a selection of Human Rights Watch’s films to Davis and Sacramento. The films will be accompanied by question and answer sessions with filmmakers and scholars. Human Rights Watch screens its Human Rights Film Festival in more than 20 cities around the world, including Amsterdam, London, New York and Sydney. 

Joining us on Insight is Emelie Mahdavian to talk about her film, which will be screened at the Manetti Shrem Museum at 254 Old Davis Road in Davis on Tuesday, Oct. 22 from 5:30 - 8 PM.
