The Ninth Annual Davis Music Fest returns this weekend with 40 local, regional and touring artists from across the region performing at six venues over three days. Ticket sales benefit arts and music education in Davis public schools, and the event is entirely sponsored by local businesses and individuals. The lineup features Insight Music veterans The Philharmonik, Jessica Malone, Honyock, LaTour, IdeaTeam, Shawn Thwaites Rebel Quartet, Topograf, POOR Majesty, The Gold Souls, Lillian Frances and Dog Party.

For this week’s Sound Advice, Davis Live Music Collective Executive Director Kyle Monhollen joins Insight to preview the weekend’s lineup of talent. He also discusses the upcoming production of Rent at the Davis Musical Theatre Company.

King Dream  “First World Problem Blues”

Performing on Friday, June 21 at Sudwerk Brewery at 6:15 p.m.

King Dream is a new solo project by Bay Area songwriter Jeremy Lyon, who performed with the band Tumbleweed Wanderers from 2011 to 2016.

Mojo Green — “Shake Your Thang”

Performing on Saturday, June 22 at Delta of Venus at 9:00 p.m.

Mojo Green is a seven-piece funk band from Reno, Nevada, driven by horns and powerful vocals by frontwoman Jenes Carter.

Loud Forest — “Out Of My Head”

Performing on Saturday, June 22 at Sophia’s Thai Kitchen at 9:30 p.m.

Loud Forest is the stage name of husband-wife duo Bernard and Rachel Chadwick from Pasadena, California. They perform pop rock tinged with shoegaze and indie and gospel.

The Coffis Brothers & The Mountain Men — “You Ain’t Got The Heart”

Performing on Saturday, June 22 at Davis Odd Fellows at 10:00 p.m.

The Coffis Brothers & The Mountain Men are roots rockers hailing from the Santa Cruz Mountains, blending R&B, folk and blues influences.

Ten Foot Tiger — “Addicted to Escape”

Performing on Sunday, June 23 at Delta of Venus at 2:45 p.m.

Ten Foot Tiger is a jam band trio fronted by Dan Green, who brings indie pop and funk influences to their powerful live performances.
