Counties across the U.S. are required by Congress to conduct a Point in Time Count of unsheltered residents experiencing homelessness every two years. This year, agencies in Sacramento County are preparing for a concerted effort including a thousand volunteers, public servants and a swelling homeless population — during the last PIT Count in 2017, the tally rose significantly from past levels.

At the same time, Creation District is taking point on the Sacramento 100 Day Challenge to Tackle Youth Homelessness. The goal is to achieve rapid rehousing for 200 young adults from ages 16 to 24 in 100 days, and so far the group has housed 153 people in about two months.

Ben Avey from Sacramento Steps Forward and Grace Loescher from Creation District join Insight to talk about the Point In Time Count and 100 Day Challenge to address homelessness in Sacramento.

To help with the 100 Day Challenge, call 916-525-5965.
