City leaders and community members came together Sunday, Sept. 16 to celebrate 916 Day in Sacramento. The event was held at McClatchy Park and featured speakers, performances and opportunities to learn and talk. It was also the kick-off of a new campaign to make Sacramento a more “compassionate” place.

Laura Hansen, cofounder of Compassionate Capital Region and lead organizer for the Compassionate Sacramento launch at yesterday’s 916 Day, is joined by Joan Marie, a CoFounder of Compassionate Capital Region and Pauline Haynes, a Compassion Ambassador, to discuss what it means to be more compassionate and why the city of Sacramento has focused on it.
