In a recent speech State Senate President Kevin De Leon stated there were ten times the number of clean energy jobs in the state of California than there are coal mining jobs in the entire country. The comment came just weeks before President Trump announced the United States was leaving the Paris Climate Agreement, in part because he claims coal mining jobs are being destroyed by stringent carbon emissions standards.

PolitiFact California Reporter Chris Nichols examined just how many jobs are in each sector and put De Leon’s statement to the lie-detector test.
