Summer has officially arrived and so has the annual Davis Shakespeare Festival. This year, festival organizers have paired the classic tale of "Cyrano de Bergerac" with a lesser-known musical comedy "Bells Are Ringing." Today on Insight, the festival's two artistic directors, Rob Salas and Gia Battista, join us in studio to talk about what audiences can expect to see this summer. Salas is directing "Cyrano de Bergerac and Battista is playing Ella Peterson in "Bells Are Ringing."

The Davis Shakespeare Festival also produces neglected Broadway shows. This season they’ve revived a 60-year-old musical which probably hasn’t been staged locally since the Music Circus did it in 1959. It's almost like opening a time capsule.
  • Davis Shakespeare's 'Cyrano' Delights With Irresistible Energy And Acrobatic Wordplay

Hear the name “Cyrano de Bergerac,” and you'll probably think of the French swordsman with the long nose. Cyrano is also long on witty wordplay and just plain fun, as this production from the Davis Shakespeare Festival amply demonstrates.
