The Nelson Gallery at UC Davis is closing this month after almost 40 years to make room for a new art museum on the campus. The Shrem Museum, which will include a 50,000-square-feet "grand canopy" floating over 30,000 square feet of interconnected interior and exterior spaces, is scheduled to open in 2016. We’ll talk with Founding Director Rachel Teagle about the legacy of the Nelson Gallery and what UC Davis is hoping to accomplish with its new "21st Century Museum."
