From Afro/Pop to Bulgarian Harmonies, the 18th annual California WorldFest is a place to find some of the globe’s best music in the Sierra Nevada. Musician Peter Wilson joins us for this week’s Sound Advice with samples of the music you’ll hear at this year’s WorldFest, including tracks from Ozomatli and Yuna. The festival is at the Grass Valley Fairgrounds from Thursday, July 10 to Sunday, July 13.

“The Spirit of the Rockies” by Kruger Brothers

The Kruger Brothers is a trio of musicians who play new American folk music, or music within the folk genre inclusive of new compositional and thematic elements. The trio consists of Jens Kruger (banjo, harmony vocals), Uwe Kruger (guitar, lead and harmony vocals) and Joel Landsberg (bass, harmony vocals). The group is acknowledged as one of the most innovative ensembles active in Americana music today.


“Heaven” (Spanish Version) by Los Lonely Boys

Los Lonely Boys is an American Chicano rock power trio from San Angelo, Texas.


“Burn it Down” by Ozomatli 

Ozomatli is a seven piece band playing primarily Latin, hip hop, and rock music, formed in 1995 in Los Angeles. They are known both for their Vocal activist viewpoints and their wide array of musical styles - including salsa, jazz, funk, reggae, rap, and others)


“Live Your Life” by Yuna 

 Yunalis Mat Zara'ai (born 14 November 1986 in Alor Setar, Kedah, Malaysia), commercially known as Yuna, is a Malaysian singer, songwriter, and businesswoman
