Men aren’t necessarily prepared to be caregivers. That’s the lesson Coy Cross learned when his first wife was badly injured in a car accident and he attempted to take care of her, their family and their business all alone. When his second wife, Carol, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer he decided he was going to do things differently.

In the lead up to the airing of Capital Public Radio’s latest documentary “Who Cares,” Insight in focusing on different aspects of caregiving. Today, we’ll talk with the Air Force veteran and former Beale AFB historian about his experiences. He has written a book, “The Dhance: A Caregiver’s Search for Meaning,” to help other people, especially men, who find themselves suddenly caring for an ill or seriously injured loved ones.
