Eloise Weiler's Classical Moment

I was an exchange student in Germany way back in 1955.  It was likely a Saturday with no classes at the Univ. of Goettingen, in a lovely 1000 year old town, and I was out for a stroll on a mid winter's day. (In the Bleak Mid-Winter!). I wandered into a church of  unremembered denomination into an obvious practice session of the organ away up in the rear balcony and a single violinist up near the Choir in front. I don't know what they were rehearsing but it was that so-called "Lost Chord" moment for me. I was so mesmerized by the sheer nearly unbearable beauty of that echoing masterpiece, likely Bach, in that cold, cavernous church, that the tears flowed involuntarily. I shall never, so long as memory prevails, forget that haunting music that might have moved even the Angels to weep.

P.S. Perhaps the only sounds to equal the profound ecstasy of this "musical moment" were the sounds of the first cries of my two babes at their births 3 and 13 years after Goettingen.

Thank you for allowing me to share,  Eloise Weiler, a recent 50 year "winter refugee" from Ohio to Sacramento.  Once I found your station and your music...I felt at home!

I had been fortunate enough to have had WOSU in Columbus, Ohio, and WFMT in Chicago....and now CapCity Radio.  Many thanks.
