Hi Friends! Unfortunately, I have been out sick for much of the week and I will give you 19 guesses as to why. I have little choice but to run a repeat tonight, but if you're gonna do it, make sure it's a good one, right? I really enjoy this episode from January as it celebrates the birth of one of my favorite composers. Enjoy!
Happy Birthday Philip Glass! Tune in to hear his 11th Symphony about 20 minutes into the second hour. I also have music from Hildur Gudnadottir, Arooj Aftab, Brad Mehldau and more! Ryan Lott, founder and frontman for Son Lux also had a birthday last week. We kick the show off with a couple of tunes from the band as well as Lott himself talking a bit about how Son Lux got its start.
Gabriel Kahane has a new album waiting in the wings called "Magnificent Bird" due to be released on Nonesuch Records on March 25th. He just dropped his newest single yesterday, an ode to his maternal Grandmother called "Sit Shiva." Check out the video below!
