Nearly All Employees In California Will Receive Sexual Harassment Prevention Training In 2021 Under New Law

Editor’s Note: On December 24, we published this story as part of our “New Laws” series. Unfortunately, we got the story wrong. 

Here’s what happened: Senate Bill 1343, which was passed by the Legislature and signed in 2018, was set to go into effect on January 1. It would have required nearly all employees in the state receive sexual harassment prevention training. 

However, lawmakers quietly passed Senate Bill 778 in August of last year, which delays the implementation of SB 1343 until January 1, 2021. The law came with no announcements or notification from the lawmaker’s office.

That said, the buck stops with us. We regret this mistake.
