UPDATE 7:09 P.M.: The Ponderosa Fire in Butte County has grown to 3,715 acres and is now 40 percent contained, according to CAL FIRE. Evacuation orders are in place for Lumpkin Road from Forbestown Road to CAL FIRE Station 51, including the community of Feather Falls.
The fire has destroyed 30 homes and another 1,300 structures are threatened.

UPDATE 3:27 P.M.: Gov. Jerry Brown has declared a state of emergency in Butte County in response to the Ponderosa fire. The wildfire has burnt 3,680 acres and destroyed 20 homes.
On Wednesday 29-year-old John Ballenger of Oroville was arrested and charged with starting the wildfire.

A wildfire burning near Oroville grew to 3,680 acres overnight Friday and has destroyed 20 homes, according to CAL FIRE.
The Ponderosa Fire in Butte County is threatening 1,300 structures, including 500 homes. Officials say the fire is 30 percent contained.
There are evacuation orders for Lumpkin Road from Forbestown Road to CAL FIRE Station 51, including the community of Feather Falls.
Evacuation orders have been lifted for the communities of Berry Creek, Brush Creek and Mountain House, including Oro Quincy Highway from Foreman Creek, north to Mountain House and all tributaries including Bald Rock Road.
An evacuation center is set up at the Church of the Nazarene, 2238 Monte Vista Ave. in Oroville.
The blaze is one of many wildfires across the U.S. West, including fires in and around California's Yosemite National Park that have closed a popular road into the park prompted evacuations of nearby towns.
