Heavy Rain, Heavy Snow In Northern California

The National Weather Service in Sacramento says an active wet weather pattern in Northern California through early next week may bring heavy rain and heavy snow.

Forecasters say the warm, wet system, will produce moderate to heavy rain Thursday, mainly north of Interstate-80.

"Saturated soils, combined with rainfall forecast, could result in small stream and river rises, and weir overflows," the NWS says. “Friday rain will be more widespread over the area, with several inches of snow at pass levels." 

The NWS says dangerous mountain travel is expected Saturday night into early Monday with possible road closures.  

Snow levels are expected to drop to 5,000 feet Friday and to 3,000 feet by Monday evening.

Locally gusty winds are possible Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening.
