Prescribed fire operations will resume Monday in the Lake Tahoe Basin.
The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District, the Nevada Division of Forestry and the U.S. Forest Service will conduct the prescribed burns at several locations around the lake.
Projects are scheduled from Incline Village to Tahoe City and South Lake Tahoe to Lake Nevada State Park north of Spooner Lake.
The Forest Service says the operations will continue for the next several weeks as weather and wind allow.
Prescribed burning is usually done in the fall and winter because of cooler temperatures and precipitation.
Smoke from the burning is normal and may continue for several days depending on the project size and the weather.
The agencies coordinate with air pollution control districts and monitor the weather to make sure conditions are favorable to carry smoke up and out of the Lake Tahoe Basin.
