A new California law requires state-licensed pregnancy clinics to post a sign informing clients about potential access to free or low cost contraceptives, prenatal care and abortions.
The Pacific Justice Institute, a conservative legal defense organization, is asking for an injunction against the law. President Brad Dacus says it violates the First Amendment rights of anti-abortion crisis pregnancy centers.
"The real issue is whether or not a privately-funded, volunteer predominantly manned crisis pregnancy clinic can do their work and work and care for women without having to advocate something totally divergent to what they believe in," he says.
Dacus says women in California generally know they can get abortions.
Nourbese Flint is with the group Black Women for Wellness which supports the law. She says women have questions beyond whether abortions are available.
"How to get safe abortions? What is their pre-natal care? If they don't have enough money does the state of California help with that?" she says.
Flint says women need to be fully informed of their options when making pregnancy related decisions.
