The Trans-Pacific Partnership would affect many sectors of the economy from jobs to exports.
The California Farm Bureau Federation is urging Congress to pass the trade agreement which would eliminate more than 18,000 tariffs and trade barriers on American products.
Farm Bureau President Paul Wenger grows almonds and says the agreement would open up markets in 11 other nations including Australia, Japan, and Malaysia.
"Those folks buying power is growing, their population is growing, their need for food is growing, their desire for high quality foodstuffs, so it's really made for California," he says.
The annual value of California's agricultural exports tops $20 billion with 150,000 jobs dependent on those exports.
"This will allow us now to have an equal footing, to be able to market our products, this will allow us to have the opportunity to not to have to go against these tariffs that are arbitrarily put up to prevent equal access to some of our commodities into those countries," says Wenger.
