Cranes have already moved some of the large metal forms for concrete next to the freeway. The new bridge will connect Capitol Mall in Sacramento with 2nd Street in Old Sacramento.

"Right now if you want to go into Old Sacramento, you have to go into through the back way through Neasham Circle. With this here, you will have a direct access to Old Sacramento. It will also provide better circulation then to Crocker Art Museum and the riverfront."
Crews will also pour wider sidewalks on the Capitol Mall and O Street Bridges across I-5. Green bike lanes and planters will be installed on Capitol Mall. O Street will receive new railings.
The project will cost $13.5 million. It is scheduled to be completed by fall of next year, just in time for the opening of the new arena in downtown Sacramento.
The city also has plans for new bridges to connect the Sacramento riverfront with Capitol Mall and N Streets and a third bridge to connect the Railyards with West Sacramento.
