Demolition Set To Begin For Downtown Arena Project

  •  Marianne Russ
Thursday, July 31, 2014 | Sacramento, CA

Downtown Plaza

Demolition will begin Friday for the new downtown Sacramento Kings arena.

The city says work will start at 6 a.m. and include temporary fencing panels around Downtown Plaza entrances, electrical work and the installation of temporary crosswalks.

The Downtown Plaza East Garage entrances at 6th and L and 6th and J will close during construction. All other entrances and exits will remain open.

The West Mall will remain open during construction.

Bus stops will also be relocated from L Street to between 9th street and Capitol Mall.

The city says work will take place between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m., with street work taking place during off-peak hours and nights and weekends.
