American River Parkway Foundation Accepting Volunteers For Annual Spring Clean-Up

More than 750 volunteers are expected to help clean up the American River Parkway in Sacramento Saturday.

Dianna Poggetto with the American River Parkway Foundation says spring is typically the ideal time to clean, this spring especially.

"We do a spring cleanup before the summer season starts to remove debris, whether it's fishing lines, trash, what have you," says Poggetto. "But, on top of that, with the water levels being as low as they are, we're able to access areas that volunteers haven't been able to access before because the water has covered them.  So like, at Paradise Beach, you can walk across the entire river now."

The foundation is still accepting volunteer applications.  Volunteers will meet at any of nine locations between Discovery Park and Sunrise tomorrow morning at nine.
