Japandroids - Live at The Blue
Lamp
Nick was able to
capture this video of Japandroids singing an
unreleased track live at the Blue Lamp last Wednesday.
We're keeping our fingers crossed that they CAN trick
their
label into releasing this song on a 7" at some
point.
He was also able to do a quick interview with lead singer, Brian
King
(which you can hear during this week's episode) - while
drummer,
David Prowse apparently high-tailed it out to the van to grab
more
t-shirts for the merch-table. Now that's what we call
dedication!
Speaking of the Blue Lamp -
that reminds us . . .
The Blue Lamp is
Awesome!!
Their recent concert line-up has been,
anyway.

Modest Mouse - "King Rat," Directed by Heath
Ledger
(VIDEO REMOVED FROM YOUTUBE -
"WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY"
SONY REP CLAIMS)
So we may not have gotten the digital download
for the newest Modest Mouse
tracks that have been released (workin' on it, promise!), but we
were excited
to post this video to the blog once we read about it
at Pitchfork.
Before Ledger died he was able to
completely conceive the video "to the last detail"
(an animated, strange, and ironic role-reversal of sorts).
It was recently finished and released in his honor.
From their soon-to-be released double LP Embryonic - this
track may be reminiscent
of their earlier work (the story of a girl in odd circumstances, a
la "Yoshimi,"
with a tinge of the somber tone of "Vein of Stars") it still
sounds original,
compelling, and (dare we say it) kind of refreshing.
La Blogothèque - Un Concert a
Emporter
Indie filmmaker Vincent Moon (a.k.a. Mathieu Saura) began filming
rare and
improvised performances of various international groups in 2006.
His guerilla
filmmaking style has captured almost 100 bands playing short,
impromptu concerts
in back alleys, parks, abandoned high school gymnasiums, and subway
stations - you name it!
Artists filmed include Architecture in Helsinki, Lykke Li,
Sebastien Tellier, Amanda Palmer,
Fleet Foxes, Bloc Party, of Montreal, and this Icelandic
sensation
(no, not MORE Bjork) . . .
