Animal Shelter Sacramento County has just opened a new animal shelter on Bradshaw Road that promises to provide better, more humane care for abandoned animals. You'll hear about the facility and get some tips on what you should do before adopting an animal.

Abraham Verghese Author Abraham Verghese is speaking tonight at California Lectures. Verghese is a doctor and medical school professor who's new novel "Cutting For Stone" has just come out in paperback. You'll meet him and hear about his work.

Fred Eaglesmith Canadian singer-songwriter Fred Eaglesmith is performing in Nevada City this weekend. Eaglesmith has released 17 albums during the last 30 years and his latest album is called "Tinderbox." You'll meet Eaglesmith and hear some of his music.
