Melissa Sandvig/Cutting Defense/Flash Fiction 365/Poplollys


 Melissa Sandvig One of the star's of "So You Think You Can Dance" is performing this weekend in the Sacramento Ballet's "Nutcracker." You'll meet Melissa Sandvig, the classically trained dancer who made it to the Top 6 of this summer's hit dance show, and hear what it's like to perform in a Christmas classic.

'The Nutcracker" opens Friday, Dec. 11th and runs through Wednesday, Dec. 23rd at the Community Center Theatre, 1301 L St., Sacramento. Performances are at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; 2 p.m. Saturdays; 1 p.m. Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays; and 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday, Dec. 20th. Information: (916) 808-5181.

Cutting Defense Self-defense instructor Midge Marino is seeing two of her three classes at Sacramento State being cut; they include general self-defense classes for students at large, particularly women. Today on Insight, we'll talk with her about it.
