"Mongrel Nation" A recent book by a local historian looks at how relationships between blacks and whites in the country's early years have shaped American society. UC Davis professor Clarence Walker tells you about "Mongrel Nation: The America Begotten by Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemmings." This segment originally aired Feb. 6th, 2009.

Prop. 8 Reaction Yesterday's California Supreme Court ruling on Proposition 8 was a setback for same-sex couples and their supporters. But there was at least some consolation for the 18,000 same-sex couples that got married last year. The Supreme Court let marriages that happened between June and November 2008 stand. One of those couples is Ellen Pontac and Shelly Bailes of Davis, the fist same-sex couple to get legally married in Yolo County. We'll talk to them about the rulings.

The Secretions Sacramento punk-rock band The Secretions is performing this weekend in Sacramento. The Sammies Hall of Famers talk about the band and their music and play an acoustic set in our studio. This segment originally aired June 13th, 2008.
