"Dear Harvey" / 2me / Trombone Shorty

"Dear Harvey" Today would be Harvey Milk's 79th birthday. The well-known gay rights activist and San Francisco politician was shot dead in 1978, but his legacy lives on. He was the subject last year of an Oscar-winning biographical film starring Sean Penn. There's a new theatrical piece about Harvey Milk playing this month in Sacramento. "Dear Harvey" is presented by the gay and lesbian theater company Lambda Players. Today on Insight, the director and two of the actors tell us about it and you'll hear some readings.

2Me On their MySpace page, Sacramento band 2Me call their music folk and roll. If you check out their songs, you can certainly hear what they mean. It's very melodic and heavy on acoustic guitar, but with a definite rock and pop groove. 2Me is up for a Sammie, the Sacramento Area Music Awards.

2Me performs at 9 p.m. today with Abandon Theory at Old Ironsides, 1901 10th St., Sacramento. Information: (916) 443-9751.

Trombone Shorty There's a funky New Orleans-style jazz with a hip hop flavor playing tonight in Sacramento. It's Troy Andrews - also known as Trombone Shorty - with his band Orleans Avenue. You'll meet Trombone Shorty and hear some of his music. This segment originally aired May 21st, 2008.

Trombone Shorty performs at 8:30 p.m. today at The Hard Rock Cafe, 545 Downtown Plaza, Sacramento. Information: (916) 441-5591.
