FTC Closing A local professional arts group is about to close its doors. After struggling to pay the bills for some time, Foothill Theatre Company of Nevada City announced yesterday that this season will be its last. We'll talk with artistic director Carolyn Howarth about it.

James Rollins Best-selling thriller writer James Rollins of Sacramento is known for the science, mysticism and exotic locations of his novels. Now he's applied that mix to his first novel for children. Today on Insight, we'll talk with Rollins about writing "Jake Ransom and the Skull King's Shadow."

James Rollins speaks at 7 p.m. today at Borders, 2339 Fair Oaks Blvd., Sacramento.

Chuck Hudson Sacramento Opera's next production is one of the most popular operal of all - Puccini's "La Boheme." The show's director, Chuck Hudson, has worked on operas around the world but one key part of his professional background may be a surprise. For years, he studied and taught at the Marcel Marceau mime school in Paris and he performed with Marceau on stage and in film. We'll talk with Hudson about his career and this production of "La Boheme."

"La Boheme" is playing at the Community Center Theater, 1301 L St., Sacarmento. Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday, May 8th; 2 p.m. Sunday, May 10th and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 12th. Information: (916) 737-1000.

Todd Haaby A guitarist with a "new flamenco" style is performing in Woodland on Saturday. For Todd Haaby, the gig is a homecoming of sorts. He now lives in Oregon, but was raised in Woodland where, as a teenager, he played in a rock band. Haaby has also worked overseas as a model and is a real estate investor and developer, but along the way he's maintained his love for music.

Todd Haaby performs with Sol Vida at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 9th at the Woodland Opera House Theatre, 340 Second St., Woodland. Information: (530) 666-9617.
