Receding Schools/ Time for Three/ "In the Blood"


Receding Schools Sacramento City Unified School District has held a series of town hall meetings to gain community members' input on how to respond to significant budget deficits and declining enrollment. The school board votes this week on approval of a finalized plan involving school closings and consolidations. Today on Insight, we’ll talk about how the proposed strategy will impact the area and how some local private schools are dealing with similar challenges.

Time for Three When a string trio describes itself as a "classically trained garage band," you know you're getting something different from a typical classical ensemble. Time for Three is two violinists and a bassist and they play music thta's a fusion of bluegrass, classical and more. They're in Davis for several concerts this week and you'll hear them perform live in our studio.

"In the Blood" A play updating "The Scarlet Letter" is about to open at Sacramento State. "In the Blood" is about a homeless African-American woman with five children each born of a different father. The author is Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan Lori-Parks.

"In the Blood" runs from Thursday, April 16th through Sunday, April 26th at Playwrights' Theatre, Shasta Hall, Sacramento State, 6000 J St. Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 16th though Saturday, April 18th and Friday, April 24th and Saturday, April 25th; 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19th and April 26th; and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22nd and Thursday, April 23rd.
