Rural Social Work/ "Canton Footprints"/ Letters/ Leo Kottke

Social Services in Rural Counties There’s a chronic shortage of social workers in Northern California’s rural counties. Yet those areas have their own special needs and vulnerable populations. Today on Insight, you’ll hear about a plan to help address the problem.

"Canton Footprints" The book "Canton Footprints: Sacramento's Chinese Legacy," written by San Francisco historian Philip Choy, will be honored in Sacramento this evening. The Sacramento County Historical Society is giving the book an Award of Excellence. "Canton Footprints" was published last year and it's a history of Chinese and Chinese-Americans in the Sacramento area. Choy's latest book is about the architecture of San Francisco's Chinatown.

"Canton Footprints" will be honored at the Sacramento County Historical Society Awards Dinner at 6 p.m. today at Sierra Sac Valley Med Society Building, 5380 Elvas Ave., Sacramento.

Letters We hear what our listeners have to say about topics and guests recently covered.

Leo Kottke We’ll talk with virtuoso guitarist-singer-composer Leo Kottke who's in concert this week in Sacramento.
