Presidential Inauguration/ August Wilson

Presidential Inauguration  Today on Insight, we’ll mark the inauguration of Barack Obama by talking with Sacramento residents and journalists attending the inauguration in Washington D.C. We’ll also talk with a UC Davis professor Larry Berman about Obama’s inaugural address and what people might expect from his first 100 days in office.

August Wilson The Sacramento Theatre Company is beginning a 10-year celebration of plays by August Wilson. Every year they'll stage - in order - his 10-play cycle of plays chronicling African-American life in the 20th Century. The first play, "Gem of the Ocean," is set in 1904 Pittsburgh. We'll talk with Artistic Director Peggy Shannon about why they're doing it and you'll hear from the director and one of the actors of "Gem of the Ocean."

"Gem of the Ocean" opens at Wednesday, Jan. 21st and runs through Sunday, Feb. 15th at the Sacramento Theatre Company, 1419 H St., Sacramento. Hours are 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays; 12:30 p.m. Thursdays; 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; and 2 p.m. Sundays. Information: (916) 443-6722.
