UMC Bishop Beverly Shamana United Methodist Church Bishop Beverly Shamana's term ends this year. She was among the first African-American women elected to be a bishop in the United Methodist Church; she finishes her 8-year term in June 2008.
Galena Street East Northern California youth performers, Galena Street East, will represent California in a major, pre-Olympic international music festival in China from June 16 to June 27. The group, which was selected on merit to represent the state by festival organizers based in Arizona, will perform in Beijing, Tianjin and Qinhuangdao, all venue sites for the upcoming Olympics.
