"Flat Out!" / Follow-up Friday / Kiri Te Kanawa


"Flat Out!"  Grass Valley resident Rocky Robinson broke the world land speed record in 2006 and he’s written a book, "Flat Out!," about the experience. Today on Insight, you’ll meet Robinson and hear what it’s like to travel 349 miles per hour on two wheels.

Rocky Robinson will be at the Fall Classic Speedway races at the Auburn Fairgrounds today. He'll also speak at a book-signing event from 1 t 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6th at The Book Seller, 107 Mill St., Grass Valley. Information: (530) 272-2131.

Follow-up Friday  We follow up on two topics we recently covered on Insight. We check in with Steve Martarano, the head of communications for the California Department of Fish and Game's Lake Davis Pike Project, about how the poisoning is going. We also get an update from Capital Public Radio's station manager Carl Watanabe about proposed royalty rates that could put many music web streamers out of business.

Insight was not heard Monday, Oct. 8th to allow for a special documentary, "A Duty to Starve," about 36 conscientious objectors who participated in a year-long starvation experiment during World War II.
