Economic Forecast / Freedom From Hunger / Mosquito Study

Economic Forecast  Dan Kennedy, publisher of the Sacramento Business Journal, tells host Jeffrey Callison how business and the economy will fare in northern California in 2006.

Freedom from Hunger  A local non-profit combats poor health around the world with micro-credit loans.  Jeffrey speaks with Freedom from Hunger's President, Dr. Chris Dunford, about how they do it.

Mosquito Study  The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has awarded a $50.7 million grant to an international research consortium that includes a UC Davis mosquito expert to develop better prevention and treatment strategies for malaria and dengue fever.  Jeffrey speaks with Thomas Scott, an expert on the ecology, epidemiology and control of viral diseases that are transmitted by insects.  The grant will fund Scott's field studies on dengue fever in Peru.
