Wearing the Red Vest / Lone Surfer

Wearing the Red Vest A local woman just back from the Gulf Coast area shares her first-person accounts of what it was like to volunteer with the Red Cross to bring relief to those affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Julia Ann Easley served as a public affairs supervisor at the largest shelter in post-Katrina Louisiana. At its peak, the River Center housed more than 6,000 refugees. In addition to providing shelter, the River Center was the first to offer a school for children, complete with credentialed teachers and a retired principal.  She dealt with media and organized tours for former President Clinton, celebrities, and other dignitaries.

Lone Surfer  Davy Rothbart, creator of the acclaimed Found Magazine and the national bestselling book FOUND: The Best Lost, Tossed, and Forgotten Items from Around the World, joins host Jeffrey Callison.  In Found, Davy shared tantalizing tales people had discarded, or left behind, in discarded things.

In his new book, The Lone Surfer of Montana, Kansas: Stories, Rothbart tries his hand at fiction with a collection of stories that capture the oddity, poetry, and dignity of every day life.

Also: Crazy Caller  Keith Jensen leads the I Can't Believe It's Not Comedy troupe - he also used to appear on those wacky morning drive radio shows as a staged caller - one who fakes being opinionated.
