So far, airport officials say the federal Transportation Security Administration does not think tightening safety measures at Sacramento International is necessary.

“We have not been directed to make any changes to our security at the airport.”

Karen Doron is a spokeswoman for the airport.

“However, I would suggest that people arrive at least 90 minutes prior to their flight just to make sure they’ve got plenty of time to check-in, check their bags, get through security.”

In the wake of last week’s failed bombing, federal officials are reportedly looking into putting more full-body scanners at airports around the country. Is Sacramento International among them?

“…you know that’s a question for TSA. Right now we don’t have that kind of equipment.”

Doron says besides arriving a little earlier, passengers don’t need to do anything differently at security checkpoints.
