A poll of the region’s top 100 employers shows that only 7% plan to reduce their workforces between January and March. That’s way down from the same time last year when 20% of companies were planning layoffs.
Rick Reed is with Pacific Staffing which did the survey. He says 46% of the employers polled plan to hire in the next three months.
“Demand for technical experience was double any other in the first-quarter which also included people looking for customer service, sales, manufacturing and shipping experience.”
He says another positive sign is that 20% of the companies surveyed said they plan to hire new staff…rather than to replace workers who are fired or who retire.
