The holidays are a critical time for Lake Tahoe ski areas. They make about 20 percent of their income during the period between Christmas and New Years Day.Squaw Valley spokeswoman Savannah Cowley says this season’s abundant snow and a brighter economic outlook are bringing out crowds of skiers.
Cowley: “It snowed one hundred inches in December alone which ahs really set us up for having incredible conditions for the holidays. We have the mountain 100 percent open and the conditions really are phenomenal.”
Other Tahoe resorts such as Northstar-at-Tahoe and Alpine Meadows also say they are going to be busy for the next week. Conditions are expected to be good throughout the holidays.
