The outages are part of a federal pipeline project at Folsom Dam and involve a temporary shutdown of the city’s water treatment plant. Crews are constructing a parallel pipeline. Sean Bigley with the city of Roseville describes why it’s needed.
Bigley: “Basically what this will allow, it will allow redundancy in our system, so that if there is an issue with our main pipeline, we have this as a backup pipeline, just in case. So it basically adds more reliability to our water service for our customers.”
Bigley is asking Roseville residents to cut back on outdoor irrigation today and tomorrow. He says there might be more outages in December. Officials hope the project will be completed by spring 2010.
