Kelly Siefkin is with the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services. She says the Run to Feed the Hungry fundraising event likely brought in more than $800,000.
“For every dollar that’s donated to the food bank 10 dollars worth of clothing, diapers, food and education is returned to our community at no cost.”
Siefkin says this year’s attendance and fundraising might be a little over last year’s total. She says that would help offset the increased demand for services because of the recession.
The money raised will help buy groceries for about 20,000 families a month.
