Johnson: “Everyone knows that these are the same allegations that have been brought forward over the last couple of years. They’ve been thoroughly investigated by multiple different authorities, and everyone found them to be baseless.”
The mayor addressed those questions Tuesday for the first time since the GOP report was released last Friday.
According to the report, federal agents investigating Johnson learned of allegations of inappropriate contact between Johnson and three females. All three were students in the HoodCorps program run by Johnson’s non-profit St. HOPE Academy. The report says Johnson offered one of the women a thousand dollars a month until the end of the program, which she did not accept.
The Republican report examined the Obama administration’s firing of the U.S. Inspector General who investigated Johnson and St. HOPE during last year’s mayoral campaign.
