The money comes from the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Bill passed by Congress on Tuesday. It will fund military construction projects around the state, including an $11-million fire station at the Air National Guard base in Reno.
Sparks chamber director Lynn Stevens says this is good news for unemployed construction workers and the community as a whole.
"It certainly is a stimulus for people to get to work and also what it does is it outreaches to a lot of other entities simply because those people that are making money there are gonna be able to buy food, groceries and other things."
The bill also contains $2 million for the design and construction of renewable energy projects at six Army National Guard facilities and $12 million for a fitness center at Fallon Naval Air Station.
