On Saturday, residents will get their first chance to check out the town of Winters’ new library. It comes on the heels of last month’s opening of the Arthur Turner Library in West Sacramento.

County Librarian Patty Wong says the new five-and-a-half Million dollar Winters Community Library is a far cry from the bunker-like building that used to house the town’s library.

“It’s a wonderful building. It’s got high-pitched ceilings. It’s got windows all the way around it so it makes great use of day-lighting. It is the first new building that’s been erected in Winters in more than 30-years.”

Wong says the new library was funded with private donations and money from Yolo County, the city of Winters and the local school district.

A grand opening will be held Saturday from 1 PM to 5 PM. The library is located on Railroad Avenue.
