One year from today California voters will head to the polls to elect their next Governor. Three candidates are vying for the GOP nomination: Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner, Former E-Bay C-E-O Meg Whitman and Former Congressman Tom Campbell. But there’s no official Democratic candidate. Late last week, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom withdrew from the race. Former Governor and current Attorney General Jerry Brown is expected to enter – but he has yet to officially do so. Sherry Bebitch Jeffe is a Senior Scholar at the University of Southern California’s School of Policy, Planning and Development. Marianne Russ talked with Jeffe about the race.
