There are still more questions than answers about why a Sacramento State student allegedly beat his dormitory roommate to death yesterday before being shot by campus police. Nineteen year old Quran Jones is in the hospital. University police say he’ll be booked on suspicion of murder and attempted murder of a police officer when he's released. Police say Jones charged them with a knife and had to be shot. Jones’ alleged victim was identified today as 23-year old Scott Hawkins, a history major. Sac State President Alexander Gonzalez says the campus is still in shock:

“It breaks my heart that both Scott and Quran were both students of this university. Crisis counselors were here or on call throughout the night. Those services will be available for any student who needs them.”
Gonzalez called on the community the media not to speculate about motives in the case while the investigation continues.
