Annette Spicuzza is UCD’s Chief of Police. She says the scenario will be an “active shooter” incident – that’s when someone starts shooting at people…although that’s about all she’s saying.
“I don’t want to give away the entire thing. It’s important that we have the officers responding in such a way that they’re not quite sure what’s going to happen and to deal with it as realistically as possible.”
Spicuzza says they’ll be looking at how fast police and fire departments respond…as well as the campus’ ability to send out warning messages to students and faculty.
“And I’m not at all looking for a 100% right off the chart kind of response. I think we probably will miss something here and there. But the hope is that it’s easily repairable.”
The exercise – dubbed “Operation Gallant Eagle” – is set to happen Wednesday morning.
