Police found the body Sunday on what was to have been the 24-year-old’s wedding day. Homicide detectives say they don’t have a suspect yet.

Le graduated from Union Mine High School in the small community of El Dorado, about six-miles from Placerville. Principal Tony DeVille says the mood there is very somber.

“You know, we’re in a state of shock. I think that perhaps we saw this coming but you don’t want to think that it’s coming. It’s a loss – not only for this school and this community but who knows what this outstanding young person would have done in her lifetime.”

Le graduated from Union Mine High in 2003. DeVille says Le was a top student.

“She was valedictorian of her class. She had a 4.28 GPA. But I think more importantly she was just a well-rounded, energetic, vibrant person. A person that was well-liked and well-respected by her peers and her teachers.”

DeVille says faculty members are meeting this afternoon to make plans for a memorial, celebrating Le’s life and honoring her memory. Yale University is planning to hold a candlelight vigil Monday night.
