Authorities say Jaycee Dugard’s captors held her in a secret backyard compound at their home in Antioch, along with two young girls. Dugard was 11 years old when she was kidnapped; now, she’s 29.
At a press conference Thursday afternoon, El Dorado County undersheriff Fred Kollar said the compound was well-hidden.
Kollar: “There was a secondary back yard that’s screened from view from literally all around – only accessed through a very small, narrow tarp. Her and the two children were living in a series of sheds. There was one shed entirely sound-proofed, could only be opened from the outside; another shed that had more access to the public; and then two tents.”
The two captors, Phillip and Nancy Garrido, were taken into custody Wednesday. Authorities also say Dugard gave birth to the 11- and 15-year-old girls – and Phillip Garrido was their father.
The El Dorado County District Attorney will file a criminal complaint in superior court by noon Friday.
