Jonathan P. Raymond will be Sacramento City Unified’s new superintendent. Thursday night, district trustees approved a four-year contract with Raymond.
Trustee Patrick Kennedy says Raymond has a strong record of improving test scores. Kennedy also says Raymond will be well-equipped to handle the district’s financial challenges.
“The budget cuts were also something that we considered when we were looking at candidates and Mr. Raymond does have a business perspective and business background which I think is going to be important during these difficult economic times and the declining enrollment that our district’s seeing.”
Raymond will lead a district that serves 48,132 Kindergarten-through-12th graders.
August 21st will be Raymond’s first day on the job. His salary will be $245,000 a year.
