Some of the council members are worried about people using medicinal marijuana for recreational purposes. Vice Mayor Curtis Hunt said he did some research of his own on the internet and looked at several blogs on the issue. 

“Let’s be real clear here, this is not compassionate use. The word I got on line is that ‘I took my friend in and I sold to my friend and that when we got out we split the dime bag.’” 

Supporters say the moratorium will give the city more time to decide how to regulate medical marijuana dispensaries. The cities of Benicia and Fairfield have adopted similar bans.
